Place and date of Birth:

Julia was born on October 28, 1967, in a town called Smyrna in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.


Family Members:

Her Father, Walter Roberts, was a house-equipment salesman, as well as an actor and a writer. 
Her mother, Betty-Lou Roberts, was a church secretary and an actress. 

Her parents divorced when she was 4, and her mother remarried Michael Motes.

She has an older brother, Eric Roberts and an older sister, Lisa Roberts Gillan.

She has a younger half sister, Nancy Motes.


Love Life and Children:

Julia Roberts, named as 'One of the Most Beautiful People' many times, has drawn much attention to her 
love life. She has dated many other actors including Liam Neeson, Dylan McDermott, Daniel Day Lewis, 
Jason Patric, Mathew Perry. She was shortly engaged to Kiefer Sutherland and was romantically involved 
with Benjamin Bratt for a few years (1998-2001).

Marital Status:

Much to everyone's surprise, on June 25, 1993, she got married to the singer Lyle Lovett. 
The two got divorced in March 1995.

On July 4, 2002, Julia got married for the second time to her boyfriend, cameraman Daniel Moder, 
in a midnight ceremony in Mexico

Children:

On November 28, 2004 Julia Roberts and Danny Moder became the proud parents of Twin babies: A boy they called 
'Phinneaus Walter' and a girl, 'Hazel Patricia'.


Childhood:

Julia grew up in an acting environment, but due to her love for animals, she aspired to become a veterinarian. 
Her parents got divorced when she was four years old, so she lived with her mother and sister in her home town, 
Smyrna, while her brother, Eric, went to live with her father in Atlanta. Her father passed away from throat
cancer when she was 10 years old.

In 1985 she graduated from 'Campbell High School' and went to join her sister in New York, where she signed 
a contract with a modeling agency and took some acting classes.


Her Acting Career:

In 1986, thanks to her brother's efforts, and he was already an established actor, Julia got to play her first
supporting role next to him in the movie 'Blood Red'. In 1988, she started demonstrating her unique charisma
by playing a pizza waitress in 'Mystic Pizza' and co-starred Liam Neeson in 'Satisfaction'.

In 1989, she gave an amazing performance as Sally Field's delicate daughter opposite other big-name actresses
such as Dolly Parton and Shirley McLain in 'Steel Magnolias', which earned her an Oscar nomination and a Golden
Globe Award for best Supporting Actress. In 1990, she experienced life after death as a medical student, 
in her role in 'Flatliners'.

Julia truly reached super Stardom status and became 'People's Choice for 'Favorite Actress', when, ironically, 
she played the role of the 'sweet' prostitute opposite Richard Gere in 'Pretty Woman' in 1990. She got an Oscar 
Nomination, won the 'Best Actress Golden Globe Award and the People's Choice award. From there on, Julia's 
every move became the public's interest, her million dollar smile a guarantee for a box office hit. She became 
Hollywood's most sought-after  actress.

In 1991, she starred in the thriller 'Sleeping with the Enemy' and in the dramatic movie 'Dying Young'. She 
also played Tinkerbell in Steven Spielberg's 'Hook' opposite Robin Williams.

In 1993, she starred in the major hit 'Pelican Brief', and the next couple of years made an appearance in 
several movies including 'Pret-a Porter', 'I love Trouble', 'Something to talk about' and 'Everyone Says 
I Love You' .

In 1996, she set the record by becoming the highest paid actress in Hollywood for her role in 'Mary Reilly'. 
In 1997, she starred opposite Mel Gibson in the successful suspense/drama 'Conspiracy Theory' and won again 
the 'People's Choice Award for favorite Actress' as well as another Golden Globe nomination for 
her performance in the hilarious comedy 'My Best Friend's Wedding' opposite Cameron Diaz.

Julia kept on producing one hit after the other, starring in the tearjerker 'Step Mom' on Christmas 1998, 
and in 'Notting Hill' in the romantic hit opposite Hugh Grant in 1999. She reunited that same year with 
Richard Gere in 'Runaway Bride' . She was also nominated for an 'Emmy Award for guest Appearance' 
for her performance on an episode of the TV drama 'Law and Order' .

In 2000, Julia received a well earned Academy Award for her superb portrayal of 'Erin Brockovich' a movie
based on a true story.

In 2001, she starred opposite Brad Pitt in 'The Mexican', a movie which received mixed reviews. Then 
America's sweetheart starred in the movie 'America's Sweethearts' opposite Catherine Zeta Jones. 
That same year, she teamed up with some of  the hottest actors in Hollywood, George Clooney, Brad Pitt,
Matt Damon for the major hit 'Ocean's Eleven'  and she also starred with the same team in the sequel
'Ocean's Twelve' in 2004.

In 2003, she actually enrolled in art history classes at NY University in preparation for her role as
an art history teacher in 'Mona Lisa Smile.. She was being paid 25 million dollar for her performance.

In 2005, Julia scored another hit with 'Closer' that had her starred against Clive Owen, Jude Law, 
and Natalie Portman.

Julia has also turned down several important roles such as the Sharon Stone role in 'Basic Instinct' (1992), 
the role of Gwyneth Paltrow in 'Shakespeare in Love' (1998)

Julia Roberts, the humanitarian

Julia is an active member of UNICEF and visits many third world countries in order to promote their aid. 
She has lent her name to the 'Rett Syndrome Foundation' to help raise funds for the cure research.
